General Information

Business: The Amplifier was established in 1995 with the mission of promoting the arts in south central Kentucky.

Coverage: Area artists are the first priority for content. Artists are considered to be in our coverage area if they are from, living in or regularly performing/exhibiting in south central Kentucky (Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Hart, Metcalfe, Simpson and Warren county). Though anyone who has lived for any amount of time in one of these counties (including for the purpose of going to school) falls within these parameters, in general the closer the tie, the more substantial the coverage.

All articles adhere to this criteria except the book and CD reviews. These columns feature artists from any location or genre. Calendar listings include events taking place in the above counties.

Content: Cornerstone sections include featured visual artist, featured musician/group, calendar of upcoming events and featured cover story artist. Other foundation columns are CD reviews, book reviews, True Stories From The Courtroom and Spotlights (news from area artists and organizations).

In addition, content from outside sources (such as press releases) is often published on the website when space in the paper does not allow for it's coverage. The website also contains sections not found in the paper such as the indexes of artists, venues, blogs, stores etc.

See the submission section for information on story suggestions or authoring content.
